The end of the journey?

Welcome back to the Star Rock blog. Just a couple of days ago, the results of the survey for testing the second version of Star Rock on Google Play were published in another post. Today I want to communicate that it may be the last version of the game since the project, much to my regret comes to an end. It should be remembered that Star Rock is an academic project and as such, it has a deadline and that deadline is today. Today the work will be submitted and it will be a while until I hear from it again.

That is why I make this more than likely the last post here. It is possible that at the end of the course the current development team or part of it will resume the project and continue its development to continue enhancing the possibilities. It is only a remote possibility since by the end of the course there will be many more projects and it is possible that it is preferable to continue with another project or start over new ones.

Anyway, Star Rock has been an experience. It has been a development that has gone through good phases and not-so-good phases. Everything adds up and teaches, and through this project, I have been able to learn many things related to project management and develop them with other people. Especially, the use of work management tools, and above all the importance of communicating, organizing, and planning a project.

But in addition to saying goodbye to the project, I would like to share the final Game Design Document, gameplay, and some ideas that were not fully implemented as a bonus.

For those who have not played the game but are curious to see what it looks like, right here I share a little gameplay that I did with my mobile. Warning: Recording with the mobile implies that it absorbs the ambient sound of my room, so there is some noise that does not do justice to the final sound quality.

What was discarded?

A kind of boss was also designed that would appear at the end of one of the levels. This boss has a series of phases where you will have to destroy both cannons and the dome. Once the dome was destroyed there would be one last cannon that would fire a large laser beam.

Small obstacles explode when the ship collides with them.

More details about the project can be found in the most up-to-date Game Design Document.

At this point, I can only thank everyone who has followed my blog with interest and that may be the end of the journey for Star Rock but not mine as a game developer. Remember that you can continue reading about other projects that I am developing here.

Thanks again for reading and see you in the wonderful universes that video games offer us.
